Ricardo Herrera
Ricardo Herrera, quien nació en Santo Domingo el 3 de abril en el año 1962, fue pionero de las las fiestas electrónicas desde mucho antes que surgieran en República Dominicana las que se conocen ahora. Era un DJ para bodas en Santo Domingo que ofrecía sus servicios tanto para bodas como para fiestas de 15 años, inauguraciones, aniversarios, graduaciones, amplificación y sonido en general para todo tipo de eventos. Este DJ estaba en operación desde 1983, manteniéndose por muchos años como el DJ para bodas #1 en preferencia del país.
SU CARRERA
“He visto cambiar los ritmos y me he adaptado a cada uno de ellos”, manifestaba Herrera.
En esos 25 años, Herrera navegó en todos los géneros que se han hecho populares y que la gente quería disfrutar en el momento. En ese sentido, su mezcla incluyó música de los años 70, como el disco y el funk, pasando por la colorida década de los 80 hasta llegar a los ritmos más recientes como la electrónica y el reguetón.
Herrera recordó sus inicios, en los que los DJ mezclaban con discos de vinilo. “Admiraba a los que lo hacían bien”, comentaba, y que de esta manera se acercó a esta actividad, en la que mencionaba a los disc jockey a los que seguía y entre los que se encuentran José Luis Cartagena, Juan Martín Antuña y los DJ de las grandes discotecas.
El tiempo cambió su oficio desde que inició y Herrera reconoció que era muy distinto ahora que ayer. “No habían los recursos tecnológicos”, sostuvo.
Al hablar de las cualidades que se han de tener para mantenerse en el ambiente por tanto tiempo el DJ considera que hay que estar actualizado y buscar la manera de llegar al público. Esta última parte es de vital importancia. Consideraba que este trabajo es interactivo y según la respuesta que ofrezca el público a la música que esté poniendo, sabrá los caminos a seguir. Otro parámetro que usaba Herrera para saber lo que debia dar a la audiencia es la edad: “Observo a las personas que están y de ahí parto para saber lo que les voy a poner”.

Davos
Davos had his first piano lesson in 1980, his last in 1983, and has been self taught ever since. Now an accomplished producer, live keyboardist and remixer, Davos came to public attention late in 2012 when a video of his performance of a medley of early nineties house classics - drawn from his youth in Blackburn Warehouse parties and raves in the late 80s - hit youtube and went instantly viral, notching up over 120,000 hits in the first week and now over half a million on youtube alone (with an estimated 4 million or more views netwide). Homeless and couch surfing at the time, the viral catapulted Davos into the limelight and brought him to the attention of some of the biggest names in dance music as well as two generations of acid house ravers.
In the time since the viral Davos has been living the dream with a blistering career as a live performer playing an irresistible and ever-changing medley of rave piano classics and notching up five consecutive years at Glastonbury and countless gigs at festivals and iconic clubnights such as Streetrave Arches Glasgow, Garlands, Bowlers, Fantazia, Clockwork Orange, History of House, Retro, Kendal Calling, Festival Number 6, Beat-Herder, Masked Ball, Solfest, Reminisce and last year performing at Itaca, Es Paradis, Ocean Beach and Space Ibiza, all the while moonlighting as live keyboardist for chart-toppers and rave legends K-Klass, and more recently completing six months on tour with Peter Hook & The Light, followed by sessioning live keyboards for Cream Classical.
Also in high demand as a sessionist and producer, and referred to by Godfather-of-House Marshall Jefferson as ‘..the best keyboard player in England and one of the most talented men I have ever met’ Davos has had a hand in a number of collaborations and releases with Shapeshifters, Doorly, Klang Kuenstler, Marc Vedo, Kevin Saunderson (Inner City), Idris Elba, Baccacha, 2 Bad Mice, Mark XTC, Blandy, David Tupling, Ed Mahon and Andy Edit. Now a partner in the newly built Studio 3 Collective in Blackpool, which has itself made quite a name in the brief time since its doors opened, Davos is currently working on projects for Sonique, Joyce Sims, Alice Ella and new London outfits Made on Earth and North:South, with releases for all five imminent.
